Lot #128 1797. Small Eagle. 9 stars left, 7 right, large letters. B-1; BB-73

Description:

1797. Small Eagle. 9 stars left, 7 right, large letters. B-1; BB-73. PCGS Genuine, Cleaned-XF Detail. Traces of luster are present and a hint of light silver-gray tone. This coin shows several thin die cracks as well as strong evidence of die clashing in the right obverse field as is seen on later die states of this variety. The dies were showing their age here, with a hint of softness in the strike on a few stars where that piece of the die had shifted up causing the striking softness on the left obverse stars. Still an attractive coin with a lot of definition remaining from brief circulation. This is the scarce Draped Bust, Small Eagle type issue (PCGS # 40003) Estimated Value $2,700 - UP
The Highland Estate.
