Lot #148 1799. Irregular date, 13 stars on reverse. B-15; BB-152

Description:

1799. Irregular date, 13 stars on reverse. B-15; BB-152. PCGS graded VF-30. CAC. Pleasing moderate natural toning. This is one of the scarcer die pairings for the year 1799, as the "Irregular Date" refers to the awkward placement of the 99 on the obvrese, with the first 9 too high and tilted to the left at the top. The reverse here is that from a 1798 die which was used again in 1799 for this die variety. Excellent surfaces and solid eye appeal for this early silver dollar, and worthy of a strong bid. A Premium Quality example confirmed by the green CAC sticker (PCGS # 40045) Estimated Value $3,000 - UP
The Highland Estate.
