Lot #158 1801. B-1; BB-211

Description:

1801. B-1; BB-211. PCGS graded VF-35. Lightly toned. This is a wonderful later die state of this popular 1801 variety. The obverse has clashing near the top of the date from the clouds on the reverse, then the reverse die shows a thin crack down through STA of STATES into the arc of clouds. Another more severe development is the die sinking and crack below ME of AMERICA, and this area likely soon caused the reverse die to be replaced. An enjoyable example of this date and a coin that collectors will always enjoy studying for the various die cracks and clashing. Pop 3; 10 finer (PCGS # 40083) Estimated Value $2,800 - UP
The Highland Estate.
