Two Vice-Presidential Patches Given to Clark McClelland During the First Two Visits by Lyndon Johnson to Cape Canaveral. Two extremely desirable cloth and embroidered patches from the early 1960s gifted to Clark McClelland obviously during two of the three press events at Cape Canaveral arranged for Vice-President Johnson. As a Senator, Johnson was a key figure in the creation of NASA in 1958, after the Soviet Union launched Sputnik. As Vice President, Johnson chaired the National Aeronautics and Space Council and oversaw the Gemini, Saturn, and Apollo programs.
We can only presume these patches are quite scarce as we could find only one example on the internet. Both are in excellent condition, no staining or discoloration. One on the verso still has remnants of cloth residue from adhesive which in no way impacts the obverse.
