19th Century Viennese Torah Breastplate Superb Artistry, 800 Silver with Crown at Top in Brass as are the Lions Turquoise & Garnet Throughout. Antique Torah breastplate crafted in 800 silver, mid to late 1800s in Austria. Very well made, the breastplate is embossed with flowers, scrolls, a crown, lions, the 10 Commandments And a removable small plate upon which is indicated the part of the Torah for current reading. Dotted along the perimeter of the shield are turquoise cabochons of fine quality with simple faceted garnets at accent points elevating the elegance and importance of the plate and by extension the Torah. 14.5 x 12" with no stones or garnets missing, we note one tiny ding otherwise the breastplate is in very fine, antique condition.
