Magnificent Siddur Avodat Jewish Prayer Book in Sterling Silver Decorated with Inlaid Wood, Malachite and Mother of Pearl from 1956. Israel. Beautiful Jewish Prayer Book bound and covered for use as a presentation gift and one of the finest we have ever auctioned. Cover is sterling silver and the obverse having genuine inlaid hardwoods with Star of David designs in malachite and mother of pearl. The craftsmanship is remarkable and continues with foliate designs in the sterling silver. The reverse is much simpler with only the inlaid wood as seen on the obverse and the center floret in mother of pear. Inside front cover indicates this was a Bar Mitzvah gift given in 1956. Superior condition with gold leaf on page very consistent with no scratches. 6.75 x 5 x 1.5" Bible appears to have been more a display piece than used. Given its 68 years of age, this Bible is a true treasure in such near pristine condition. Published by Miller Publishers, Jerusalem. Estimated Value $500 - 800
