Aureli, Giuseppi. "Italian Woman with Basket" Original Watercolor on Paper. (1858-1929) Giuseppi Aureli was an Italian painter and watercolorist. His work is noted for its historical subject matter, portraits of Italian noble families as well as genre paintings and local scenes. Later he became more provocative with his works in Orientalism which included harems and the exotic.
What is remarkable about Aureli's watercolors is the detail he captures not only in his scenic backgrounds, but the details in the fabrics, skin tones and hair. This piece is signed by the artist and dated Rome, 1890
Watercolor measures 22 x 14" and spectacularly framed to 29 x 20" with the artwork under glass. We see no issues with the watercolor, examined under glass.
