J. Douglas Duder. "Family Affair" Oil on Canvas. American (1909-1961) Douglas Duder prior to becoming a professional painter went by the name, Douglas Walton a screen actor in Hollywood mostly during the 1930s and 1940s. He acted in several of director John Ford's films including Mary Queen of Scots, Long Voyage Home and the Lost Patrol as well as Bride of Frankenstein and Mutiny on the Bounty He retired from acting and took up painting professionally using his real name and eventually opening a studio/gallery in Brentwood. His Modernist works proved quite popular even well after his death.
Outstanding work offered at the height of his career is evident in this painting entitled "Family Affair" of two daughters witnessing the solid bonds of their parents. In its original gilt wood frame canvas is 20 x 36" and presented in its original gilt wood frame 26.5 x 42.5". Excellent condition.
