Useful Knowledge is a 1928 collection of poetry focusing on Americans and American life. Inscribed and signed "For the (illegible maybe Cooper) family in New York, Gertrude Stein" boldly and clearly on the facing page. Copyright 1928 by Payson & Clark Ltd. New York. Book is in good condition with good dustcover in Gaylord jacket, the spine being the most distressed, but intact. Stein's signature is highly prized. The beginning of separation of boards from spine is evident, no doubt showing the inscription and signature so frequently.
