Three Autographed Letters Signed and Two Notes Signed (1794-1878) One of the more galvanizing figures in New York newspapers of the 19th Century, Bryan, was a well regarded, significant poet in the early 1820s well before taking the reigns at the New York Evening Post. What is remarkable is the political power he and his paper wielded most especially Bryant's editorial support for organized labor, defense of religious minorities, defended immigrants and a staunch abolitionist. Any visit to Manhattan usually includes the spectacular statue/monument of Bryant in Bryant Park. Offered is a collection of letters and notes by Bryant spanning from 1844 to 1873 the latter very pale from improper display. Otherwise great signatures and general correspondence.
