H.G. Wells: Autographed Note Cards Signed, both 1920's (1866-1946) H.G. Wells was a prolific and popular writer of novels, non-fiction and short stories. But his legacy clearly is "The Father of Science Fiction" which arguably he shares with Jules Verne. There is no War of the Worlds, Invisible Man, The Time Machine, First Men In The Moon etc. without H.G. Wells. Offered are two autographed note cards signed.
1.) Eaton Glebe, Dunmow (a rectory Wells leased from 1909-1928) Dated "7 VIII 27, Dear Meun……sending this morning my articles and first proof, please copy and then transmit to Editor and would be much obliged to have a typed copy" and the balance indecipherable save for "America." His valediction and intials though are extremely legible and clear. 3.5 4.5"
The second with address 13 Hanover Terrace, Regents Park (his stunning residence where he lived from 1933 until his death in 1946. Sold in 2020 for 14 million pounds) is to an acquaintance: "Sorry to miss you. But I sail to America Friday" signs off with "Best to you and H.G." initials with drip smear. 3.5 x 4.5".
