English Grant of Arms Issued to Noted Author & Antiquarian, Frederick Arthur Crisp with Two Seals of Queen Victoria in Original Case. Extremely handsome English Grant of Arms from the Reign of Queen Victoria in original presentation box, 1880. During Queen Victoria's reign involved official documents from the College of Arms, granting new arms to individuals beautifully illuminated. This extremely appealing grant was issued to Frederick Arthur Crisp (1851-1922) academic, intellectual, author, collector genealogist and significant donor to the British Museum. Beautifully rendered and illuminated armorial (heraldry) on heavy vellum. The two large wax seals are housed in brass cases and attached to the wide blue ribbons at the bottom of the grant. The grant is housed in a black leather wrapped box with VR and Crown in gilt gold. Inside of box is royal blue paper with silk-screened gilt gold designs. Lid is secured by sliding brass locks on the facing side.
