Collection of Four (4) Deities Spanning Centuries and Civilizations and All Four Display Beautifully Especially the Vinca Idol, Neolithic Era. Four (4) deities, two of clay/terracotta one of stone and one of bone.
1.) Toltec stone mask, Mexico ca. 900 AD. Some remnants of adhesive on verso where it was mounted in a shadow box display. 3 x 2.5" and comes with inventory photo and acquired (1967)
2.) Humbaba, Mesopotamian guardian of the Cedar Forest appointed by the god Enil. Carved terracotta plaque on stand in excellent, visually appealing condition.
3.) Outstanding Vinca idol Central Europe 5700-4500 BC made from ceramic and depicting an abstract figure without legs. Marked with a collection number M277.
4.5" tall including stand. Fine example from this period.
4.) Small carved figure in bone, likely Mesopotamia or Western Iran 2nd millennium B.C. The absence of hair and detailing of the chest might suggest a bare breasted goddess wearing a long belted skirt and peaked hat. A honey colored patina and possible repair at neck. Otherwise intact and in superb condition. 2.75".
