Three Superior Examples of Émile Gallé Art Glass: Smaller in Size but Beautiful Work Embracing the Art Nouveau Designs He Championed (1846-1904) Celebrated French artist and designer, Émile Gallé clearly proved he was one of the major innovators of the Art Nouveau style along with Mucha. Toulouse-Lautrec, Tiffany, certainly Klimt and Lalique. There is no mistaking his work given the colors and craftsmanship especially evident in his cameo glass. This was his signature technique, where he would layer different colored glass and then cut, carve, or acid-etch through the top layers to create a raised, decorative design underneath. Offered are three excellent examples. The tallest bud vase is 7" tall and boasts exquisite sunset colors with green foliate designs at the base gracefully extending toward the nasturtium flowers. The second bud vase with its conical shape, 4 x 1.25" is surrounded in soft purple lilies in graceful arcs. Finally the frosted glass vase 3.5" tall, with green thistles creating a very interesting pattern is distinguished with its wider mouth able to hold more than just a single bud. All in superior condition, no chips cracks or repairs. Note: Gallé glass remains highly prized and collectible.
