Lot #2139 Rabbi Studying (After Isidor Kaufmann)

Description:

Rabbi Studying (After Isidor Kaufmann). Panel painting depicting a contemplative rabbi seated at a table, absorbed in the study of a large religious text. The composition, subject matter, and palette clearly draw inspiration from the well-known Jewish genre scenes of Isidor Kaufmann, particularly his intimate portrayals of rabbis and scholars engaged in learning. Executed on panel and housed in an ornate carved gilt frame, likely mid-20th century. Unsigned. Presented in a period frame; condition consistent with age and use. Estimated Value $300 - 500
