Siddur "Seder HaAvodah," Velvet-Bound with Gilt Mounts-Mannheim, 1855. Seder HaAvodah Israelitisches Gebetbuch für die öffentliche und häusliche Andacht, a weekday, Sabbath and festival siddur with German translation, edited by Rabbi Moshe Prager, Rabbi of Mannheim. Published in Mannheim by J. Bensheimer, 1855. Hebrew and German. Finely bound in deep brown velvet, the cover is mounted with gilt metal cornerpieces, a working clasp, and an ornate gilt monogram on the front cover. The text follows the traditional Orthodox rite while incorporating select elements reflecting the emerging Reform movement of mid-19th-century German Jewry, making this an important example of transitional Jewish liturgical publishing in Germany. The pages have gilt edges.
The binding is well preserved with only light wear at spine ends and edges; interior with scattered ink staining and a few marginal tears, some repaired with paper infill.
