Magna Grecia Blackware Pyxis, Hellenistic Period 4th-3rd Century B.C. Exceptional blackware pyxis with original lid. Lid is decorated with straight lines starting at the collar out which contrast nicely with black concentric dots and palmette designs on the base. What impresses is the amazing craftsmanship in that the top is fitted and sits perfectly snug to the bottom. A remarkable ancient vessel. Intact with only very minor restoration. 5¾ x 6½"
