Volume of "Mercure De France", Bound Single Issue of Historic Gazette Printed in March, 1775 During The Reign of Louis XVI, Very Rare. "Mercure De France" was a French literary magazine and gazette published as Mercure Galant and Nouveau Mercure Galant 1677-1774. The two publications were primarily for the elite and had essays, poems and societal and political publications. The volume is a single 12 mo. volume (17 x 10 cm.) comprising 240 pages. Superb contemporary binding in full red Morocco; the covers are framed by a triple gilt fillet and the spine features bands alternating with flowers. Finally the arms of Louis XVI are stamped on the cover, both obverse and reverse. Volume is housed in a black, leather tooled, clam shell box. Estimated Value $900 - 1,500
