1.) P. G. T. Beauregard - Bold ink signature "G. T. Beauregard", beneath the handwritten closing "Yours very truly," dated New Orleans, Nov. 8, 1866. Written in Beauregard's elegant postwar hand. Light toning and small mounting traces at edges, otherwise clean and well-preserved.Beauregard commanded Confederate forces at Charleston Harbor and ordered the bombardment of Fort Sumter on April 12, 1861, initiating the Civil War.
2.) Robert Anderson - Ink signature "Your friend, Robert Anderson" on a clipped slip, likely from a letter or document. Small mounting remnants at corners but signature is strong.Anderson was the Union major commanding Fort Sumter, whose refusal to surrender precipitated the engagement that opened the war.
