Prince George of Denmark-Signed Military Document (1703). Manuscript document signed by Prince George of Denmark (1653-1708), consort of Queen Anne of Great Britain. Written in English and dated January 26, 1703, the document concerns military justice within the Royal Navy, directing that a court martial be convened for the trial of an officer. Boldly signed "George" at the conclusion, with additional counter signatures by officials. Prince George, born into the Danish royal house of Oldenburg, married Princess Anne in 1683. Upon Anne's accession to the throne in 1702, George held the title of Prince Consort and was given the largely ceremonial position of Lord High Admiral. Though not politically influential, his role tied him closely to the affairs of the Royal Navy during a period of growing maritime power for Britain. Condition: Well-preserved manuscript with light age-toning and expected fold lines. Strong, clear signature. Verso docketing present.
