Benjamin Lincoln, Customs Certificate Dated 1804, 55 Gallon Cask of Wine, First Secretary of War, Near Pristine Condition (1733-1810) A customs certificate dated October, 1804 for a 55 gallon cask of wine from the ship Jianna and signed by port collector, Benjamin Lincoln. Lincoln proved a celebrated Major General in the Continental Army, the first US Secretary of War and the only general involved with three significant surrenders by the British Army. He was for several years the politically influential customs collector for the Port of Boston, the first to hold that position. The receipt is museum quality, the laid paper is bright white, Lincoln's signature robust, with document 5 x 9.75" having no tears or issues.
