American Made Crystal and Sterling Silver Canoe Dish for Condiments ca. early 1900s and Popular at the Lewis and Clark Centennial in 1905. Scarce, etched crystal and sterling silver relish or other condiment tray in the shape of a canoe. Detailed sterling silver ends, one with feathers (as originally designed) mimic the texture of birch bark and most certainly the rows of etched lines in the glass. CA. 1900 however it appears these were also meant to commemorate the centennial celebration of the Lewis & Clark Expedition held in Portland, Oregon. That exposition but the city and state on the map with many citizens moving there from the East riding a wave of a booming economy. We could not find who created these dishes but possibly Hawks Glass Co. 9.75 x 3 x 4.5" Hallmarked Sterling and having no chips, cracks or repairs.
