Victorian Era, Tortoise Glass, Oil and Vinegar Decanter and Lidded Jar. Victorian mouth-blown art glass patterned like tortoiseshell was patented in London in 1880 by Francis Pohl and S.A. Wittmann. Tortoiseshell art glass was initially produced in Germany and later by the Boston and Sandwich Glass Co. in Massachusetts. Two great antique pieces that prompt the question; how did they survive nearly 150 years? Oil and vinegar decanter, 7" tall, original stoppers with the cork having been replaced.
