Rare and Stunning Shell Cameo Brooch ca. Late 1800s of a Woman on Horseback plus Early Victorian Mourning Brooch in 14K. Two spectacular antique pieces:1.) Large shell cameo brooch set in a wide onyx bezel completely etched in a foliate pattern. The shell cameo is a woman riding sidesaddle with crop, hat and veil. Extremely well carved and unusual in that it is not a side portrait bust of a woman or goddess. In superior condition, this piece is perfect for coat or jacket. 2.75 x 2.5".2.) Early Victorian mourning brooch in 14K yellow gold, black enamel, and beveled crystal. Brooch is configured to be worn as a pin or a pendant. Mourning brooches were very common in the early 1800s and actually quite a lovely gesture. Wisps of hair, artfully arranged curls or as in this case, woven using a tatting needle which required a great deal of talent. In perfect condition, 1.25 x 1" and weighs 10.25 grams. Estimated Value $600 - 1,000 Jewelry from Lori Mann, 1950's star of film and television.
