(1488-1552) Original German woodcut from Münster's most famous work, "Cosmographia", is the earliest German language work about the world and proved an immensely popular work. In the course of 100 years after the book was originally published, 24 additional editions of the book were published, the last being in 1628. Page shows a historical map depicting the Fortress of Gyula in Hungary. Nicely framed and matted to 16 x 13" with manuscript in fine antique condition as inspected in frame.
