Major acts passed include Transatlantic Slave Trade Act act prohibited the importation of slaves into any port or place within the jurisdiction of the United States, taking effect on January 1, 1808, the earliest date permitted by Article I, Section 9, The Insurrection Act law empowered the President to deploy the U.S. military and state militias during times of insurrection or to enforce federal law and the Importation Act of 1806 prohibiting import of certain items from Great Britain given the tension prior to the War of 1812.
