D.E. (Dennis) Friedly, Cody Wyoming Spectacular Bowie Knive with Scrimshaw Fossil Walrus Grip. D.E. (Dennis) Friedly (Friedly Bros.) one of the great American knife makers, creating great pieces since 1972. Luxury collector's knife with unparalleled craftsmanship this knife is 14" in length with a mirror finished blade 8.5" in length. However it is the grip that soars. Made of fossil walrus tusk neither veneers or scales, the grip is in two sections divided by the second guard. One side is of a polar bear scrimshaw with a vast expanse of mountains and ice in the background. The opposing side is of a group of Indigenous hunters in scrimshaw that were designed to surround the divot in the handle. These divots can be naturally occurring in the mineralization and decomposition of a fossil or this divot was either then, or eons latter, bored to use in making a fire with stout twig. The section just below the primary guard shows a sod hot and wolf in scrimshaw.Either way and taken all together, this is a magnificent example of knife making of the highest caliber. Estimated Value $1,500 - 2,000
