Rare Monumental Bowie Knife by the Legendary, Jimmy Lile, "Inscribed and Signed" on Blade. One of a Kind. (1933-1991) Legendary knife maker, Jimmy Lile, cemented his reputation as the "Arkansas Knifesmith" well before his life changed designing and making the legendary knives for Sylvester Stallone for RAMBO parts I and II and recreating those pieces for the general public. Lile was elected president of the Knifemakers Guild in 1978 and was an early member of the American Bladesmith Society. He was elected to the board of directors of the ABS in 1977 and acted as a liaison between the two groups. In 1984 he was inducted into the Blade Magazine Cutlery Hall of Fame.Switching to another famous movie character, this is a Bowie Knife or "Dundee Knife" made famous by the Australian comedy. Knife is 17.5" in length with a 12" blade. On one side of the blade in a thin cursive inscription "For My Friend Scott Hollingsworth by Jimmy Lile, Aug. 1973". On the opposing side, inscribed is "Hand Made by Jimmy Lile". Scales are highly polished mammoth tusk.
