Fr. 225 Black Eagle Serial #Y555Y. This is a knockout, good-looking $1 1899 Black Eagle Silver Certificate Fr. 225, graded PMG 65 EPQ Gem Unc. It bears the solid serial number Y555Y. We just love the matched prefix-suffix letters Y-Y on this Gem Uncirculated piece. Estimated Value $1,600 - 3,200
PMG notes on the back of the holder: "Exceptional Paper Quality, Great Embossing". For the grade this is one superlative piece.
Three and four digit solid serial numbered Black Eagles, as recently as 2017 were expected to bring $800 to $1100 at auction. We expect today's hammer will be in the neighborhood of more than double that.
