1797 C-3a R3 Low Head with Plain Edge VG10. Sharpness VF25 but covered with uniform microscopic granularity. No verdigris, but there is a dig on the E in LIBERTY that obliterates much of that letter plus a hairline scratch from that E through the cap. These marks blend perfectly into the dark chocolate and olive toning. Nicely struck but slightly off center to K-2. EDS, Manley state 1.0 early, clearly earlier than the Manley plate coin for that die state. There is no trace of the die crack from the chin. The date and legends are bold. Weight 77.2 grains.
Estimated Value $500-UP.
