Mussolini, Benito & Vittorio Emanuele III. Document Signed "Vittorio Emanuele" as King of Italy and "Mussolini," as the Fascist dictator of Italy, on letterhead engraved "Vittorio Emanuele III…Re d'Italia," Rome, April 14, 1938, 1¼ pp., in Italian, 14½ x 9¾ in. The King (1883-1945) and "Il Duce" (1883-1945) sign a decree granting citizenship to Carlo Adolfo Källi, then a resident at San Remo. The king's signature is huge, being 5¾ in. across; Mussolini's is very forceful, with some ink bleed. The King was a mere figurehead; Mussolini was dictator of Italy, as indicated by the "XIV" after the date, referring to the 14th year since he and his Fascists took power in 1922. A few official stamps at top and light toning else fine.
