Partly-printed Autograph Document Signed five times within the text, one page, 13 x 8 in., New Haven, July 24, 1767. A deed between Sherman and James Todd and his wife Martha, of New Haven, for three quarters of an acre of land. Much of the deed is printed but Sherman has filled in about 100 words of pertinent information. Overall toning, else fine.
Roger Sherman was one of five men chosen to draft the Declaration of Independence. He was the only Signer to sign all four of the founding documents: the Articles of Association (1774), the Declaration of Independence (1776), the Articles of Confederation (1778), and the U.S. Constitution (1787). Sherman is scarce.
