1787 Massachusetts Cent Ryder 2b-A Rarity-3 PCGS graded XF40. The "Horned Eagle" variety. Frosty olive and dark steel brown with traces of lighter reddish brown toning in protected areas on both sides. The surfaces are smooth and attractive, void of any corrosion, verdigris, or contact marks. The planchet is choice except for a few tiny, barely visible chips around the T in CENT on the eagle's chest. Late die state with a bold "horn" extending up from the top of the eagle's head. The date and legends are complete and bold. A very attractive, well-balanced example of this popular variety. The "Horn" feature is noted on the PCGS label.
Estimated Value $400-UP.
