1793 C-2 R3 F15. Sharpness VF20 but covered with uniform extremely fine granularity under attractive glossy chocolate and olive brown toning. No verdigris and only a few trivial contact marks, including a tiny nick on the truncation above the 1 in the date. LDS, Manley state 2.0. Fine die rust covers the obverse fields, strongest behind the portrait. This piece was struck on an unusually broad planchet with a diameter one full millimeter larger than normal. As a result the rim outside the beaded border is quite wide on both sides. The reverse is rotated 45 degrees CW relative to the normal head-to-foot die orientation. Weight 105.8 grains, slightly more than the 104-grain standard but within the normal range.
Estimated Value $4,500-UP.
