Apollo 12, 1969, FLOWN Lunar Surface US Flag (6x4") mounted on a Presentation certificate (8x11"), and with the inscription "This flag was carried to the Moon by the Crew of Apollo 12, November 19, 1969.Ocean of Storms". The edges of the flag appear to have been trimmed to lay flat in the mat. There is a typed inscription on the reverse that reads: "This flag was carried to the lunar surface on Apollo 12 by Pete Conrad, Dick Gordon and Al Bean. Presented to Chris Kraft from the Flight Control Division, March 1970". This has been corrected in pencil to read: ".carried to the moon in. / .November 19, 1969. / .Ocean of Storms. / By (no From) the Flight Control Division." Since the consignor of this flag and the above flag are the same person, the similarities between the two descriptive certificates may indicate that these flags are prototypes for similar presentation pieces. There are stains and rubs on this mat, but the flag is still a piece of history.
Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,500.
