1795 C-2a R3 Punctuated Date with Thick Lettered Edge Planchet VF20. Ten points sharper but cleaned and retoned glossy light olive and steel with faded artificial red in protected areas on both sides. No contact marks, but there is a planchet fissure/void (as struck) from the leaf above F in HALF down to the E in CENT where it fades out. LDS, Manley state 3.0. A clear die clashmark connects the F in OF to the leaf below and the swelling at AMER is strong. The edge letters are bold. A nice half cent in spite of the defects, and I suspect a better retoning would improve the eye appeal. Weight 104.8 grains.
Estimated Value $1,000-UP.
