1795 C-2b R6+ Punctuated Date with Thin Plain Edge Planchet VG10. Clipped Planchet. Sharpness VF20 but dark with extremely fine roughness under the rather glossy dark olive brown patina. No verdigris. The only marks are some hairline scratches on both sides, all blended perfectly into the natural patina. The only scratch visible without the aid of a glass extends from the rim through the L in LIBERTY down to the hair near the cap. LDS, Manley state 3.0. A relatively large curved planchet clip reaches inside the dentils at TY and the opposing ones at ICA. Struck on a thin, unlettered planchet weighing 66.0 grains (which is quite light versus the new 84.0 grain standard, but the clip took away a significant amount of the planchet). An important example of this very rare sub-variety.
Estimated Value $3,000-UP.
