1795 C-4 R3 Punctuated Date. PCGS graded AU-50. Choice lustrous light chocolate and steel brown. The fields are prooflike and this piece offers outstanding eye appeal. The only marks are a faint hairline scratch down the cheek to the throat and a tiny (and easily missed) "B" punched above the numerator of the fraction. LDS, Manley state 2.0. The central portion of the reverse is incompletely struck, as usual for the die state, but the remainder of the reverse is sharply impressed. This is the Manley plate coin for the variety (the large photos). A very attractive example of the "Punctuated Date" type. Our grade is consistent with the slab grade. Weight 85.8 grains. The PCGS label includes the Cohen-4 variety designation and Carvin Goodridge provenance.
PCGS population 1; finest of the variety graded at PCGS (#35080).
Estimated Value $6,000-UP.
