1797 C-1 R2 1 above 1 variety G4. Struck over a 1794 TAL Cent with NEW YORK. Glossy chocolate brown with choice, smooth surfaces. Undertype from the TAL Cent is clearly visible on the lower part of the reverse, and YORK shows where the fraction would be. LDS, Manley state 5.0. The severe die failure associated with the late state caused severe weakness on much of the reverse, but the date and 1 above 1 feature are clear. Weight 86.4 grains.
