1816 N-2 R1. NGC graded MS-63 Brown. Frosty steel and light olive brown with hints of underlying faded mint color peeking through on the reverse. A nice example of this Randall Hoard variety with only a few minor imperfections. These include a collection of microscopic ticks in the field over star 1, a dusting of very fine carbon between stars 10 & 11, and a light diagonal nick right of the E in ONE. M-LDS showing rim cud breaks from star 8 to star 11 plus a smaller one at star 11.5. Clear repunching shows on the 81 in the date, and the reverse is rotated 45 degrees CW from the normal head-to-foot die orientation.
Our grade is net AU58, but you could easily make a good case for mint state as this cent never saw circulation and the reverse is nearly choice.
