(1667-69) Saint Patrick's Farthing Breen-212 Griffee G35-5/5a Rarity-7+ PCGS graded VF30. Type with "Sea Beasts below King" according to Breen. Choice glossy medium brown. The surfaces are exceptional for a St Patrick farthing, free of any hint of roughness and no contact marks. The brass splasher on the crown is obvious. An interesting feature of this variety is obvious repunching of the E in REX which causes it to read "RIEX." This feature was not visible on the Griffee specimen due to weakness in that area, but it is clear on this piece. Four were known to Griffee, and this one is clearly better than the Griffee specimen. Comes with a certification signed by Walter Breen. Listed on page 41 in the Redbook."
Estimated Value $350-UP.
