1819/8 N-1 R1 Overdate 9 over 8 G6 but Holed. Off Center Obverse Brockage. Glossy steel brown and chocolate with dark bluish steel covering the "reverse." Smooth surfaces but there is a rather large hole carefully drilled in the field off the chin. A clunker except for one important thing: it is an off-center obverse brockage. The obverse was struck by the die about 10% off center to K-5.5 while the reverse was struck against the obverse of a previously struck cent an equal amount off center. The normal and incuse impressions are rotated about 25 degrees relative to each other. An obvious and dramatic mint error. Too bad about the hole.
Estimated Value $500-UP.
