1783 Maryland Chalmers Shilling with Long Worm Breen-1012 NGC graded AU details, Improperly Cleaned. Medium grayish steel with slightly lighter steel toning on the highpoints from a very light cleaning. No notable marks. The surfaces are reasonably smooth but there is extremely fine roughness in the fields on the obverse (the Chalmers side) and traces of crud can be found in a few of the protected areas. The obverse is misaligned to K-6 leaving the tops of NNAPOL off the planchet while the reverse (birds side) is better centered with all the devices complete. This piece is well struck, even in the centers, which is unusual for the considerably rarer Long Worm variety. Listed on page 51 in the "Redbook." Estimated Value $3,000-UP
