1787 New Jersey Maris 48-g Rarity-1 PCGS graded VF30. Variety with an Outlined Shield. Glossy light to medium chocolate brown blending to darker chocolate brown in protected areas. Excellent eye appeal for the grade. The notable defects are a light rim bruise over the S in CAESAREA, a shallow planchet flake (as struck) at the star following UNUM, and a small splash of dark toning at RI in PLURIBUS. The date and legends are strong. A common variety but a nice example of the Outlined Shield type. Listed on page 70 in the "Redbook." Estimated Value $250-UP
