17th Century Deed of Common Recovery, From One Knight to Another. Instrument of Conveyance of the Mayor of Willoughby on the Wold and other property from Charles Hutchington, Knight, to William Stanhope, vellum, 16½ x 25", July 3, 1661. Large, beautiful engravings with English coat of arms across the top. Lettering in "Carolus Secondus" has some erosion from iron gall ink. Charles II had just been restored to the throne the year before, after living in exile for nine years while Oliver Cromwell ruled England, Scotland, and Ireland. A very attractive document. Typed note on verso states that this document was translated and authenticated by the English Archives Department, Huntington (Museum) Library, San Marino, California.
