Benedict, regarding some investments, his boat, and his preferred recreation: hunting and fishing. In part: "My dear Commodore, I hasten to confirm the change in securities you have made in my behalf….My thought had been to dispose in the transaction, of common K instead of preferred but I am perfectly satisfied the course pursued was the best….I have been rather expecting to hear…about a ducking trip…I hope when you see Garden you will get all the news about the Santee Club shooting….I think the Esther needs a thorough inspection and perhaps some repair…."
