Wilson, Woodrow. Autograph note signed as President, on White House stationery, 1p., 4 x 4½", Washington, [n.d.], to Matt Glaser, Esq., Secretary of the Cincinnati Republican League. An ecumenical Wilson writes, "I am complimented that you should wish my autograph and send it with pleasure." An attractive example as President, offered with the original, but quite worn, transmittal envelope. Mounting remnants on verso, some wrinkles, else fine.
Before serving as President, Wilson was Governor of New Jersey and President of Princeton University. As President, he was the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize (1919) and authored "Fourteen Points" necessary for World peace. He passed the suffrage amendment (19), oversaw negotiations for the Treaty of Versailles, and was an advocate of League of Nations. Wilson was the first President to hold a press conference -- more than 125 White House reporters were invited to the White House on March 15, 1913, eleven days after his inauguration.
Estimated Value $500 - 700.
