1793 S-3 R3- Chain AMERICA. PCGS graded VF-25. Rather glossy chocolate and darker steel brown. Hints of frosty mint luster can be found in protected areas on the reverse. No trace of corrosion or verdigris, but there are some light contact marks. The notable ones are a half dozen hairline scratches on the obverse, the strongest of these from the rim right of the Y to the bottom of the eye into the cheek, a rim bruise under the 1 in the date, and a half dozen dull ticks under IBER in LIBERTY. The date and legends are complete and strong and the eye appeal of this cent is quite nice. M-LDS, Breen state III early. The die clashmarks at the throat and truncation are sharp. An attractive mid-grade example of the ever-popular Chain Cent.
Estimated Value $25,000-UP.
