1840 N-5 R1 Large Date MS62. Lustrous bluish steel brown with 5-10% of the mint red remaining, mostly on the reverse. There is a small, very light scuff in the field just left of star 1, a tiny planchet void in the field right of star 6 (as struck), and specks of glue scattered about the obverse.
MDS, die state b. The recutting at the top of the 0 in the date is blurry but visible while the die lines over RICA are gone. Excellent eye appeal for the grade, close to choice. Tied for CC#7 in the Grellman census. DWH #2007.
Estimated Value $600-UP.
