1843 N-2 R1 MS63. Lustrous bluish steel brown with very faded mint red covering the protected areas, especially on the reverse. The surfaces are very attractive and nearly flawless. The best identifying marks are a small spot of darker toning (not carbon) close under the right side of star 3 and another off the right top of star 7.
M-LDS, die state b late (Newcomb's old #7). The die lump under the base of the 1 is gone and the point down from the left base of the N in ONE is reduced to a nub. The small rim cud break seen over UN in earlier die states does not show. Tied for CC#2 with several other examples in the Grellman census. DWH #1836.
Estimated Value $800-UP.
